I have a 97 Chevy Silverado that has a straight axel conversion kit with 11 inches of lift that is part custom and part tuff country.  I put Dana 50 axels with 4:10 gears  from a 99 ford F-250, duel front shocks and stabilizer shocks, duel flomaster exhaust,  ladder bars (you really need them), 17 inch Mickey Thompson classic locks with 37 inch Nitto Mud Grapplers.  The engine and transmission is stock but I’ve had no problems with it doing what I want. I have also added a train horn just for fun.
